Circle the Numbers Level 2 No. 2 worksheet
Search with your eyes

Circle the NumbersLevel 2 · No. 2

56 numbers, 6 to find. Light bands on every other row. A few look-alike numbers.

Aimsvisual search / visual discrimination / eye movements / sustained attention

Aims of this activity

  • Finding the target number among many (visual search)
  • Telling apart numbers that look alike, such as 3 and 8 (visual discrimination)
  • Moving the eyes left to right and row by row without skipping (eye movements)
  • Staying focused until the very last one (sustained attention)

Numbers are lined up in rows and columns, and your child finds and circles every number that matches the example.Just like reading a book, they look from left to right, one row at a time. The activity aims to build the ability to find a target among many things, and to keep searching until the end.At higher levels, more look-alike numbers appear (such as 3 and 8, or 6 and 9), and outlined (hollow) numbers are mixed in.The number next to the example shows how many to find.

Tips

  • One or two pages at a time is plenty.
  • Before starting, trace the example number with a finger, or describe its shape together.
  • Instead of circling, your child can draw a slash (/) through each number.
  • Crossing off one dot next to the example each time a number is found shows how many are left.
  • Following along each row with a finger, starting at the top left, helps avoid missing any.
  • Write the time it took at the bottom of the page so you can compare next time.

If it is too hard

  • Go down one level.
  • Place a ruler or a piece of paper under the row to look at one row at a time.
  • Fold the page in half to make the search area smaller.

If it is too easy

  • Go up one level.
  • Record the time and see whether your child can finish a little faster than last time.
